Wheel Loaders

About Wheel Loaders

Yutong wheel loaders cover the full light-to-heavy material handling band from compact 3-ton units (931A, 936H) for yards, municipal work and light earthwork, through the balanced 5-ton class (952A, 953A, 956H) that feeds 15 to 20-ton highway trucks in three to four passes, up to the 6-ton 966H for quarry and bulk loading where cycle time into the truck is the constraint. Every loader pairs a fuel-efficient turbocharged engine with a strong hydraulic working circuit and ROPS/FOPS cab, and accepts quick-coupler attachments so one chassis switches between bucket, forks and broom through the day. Bucket size is matched to material density and the truck it feeds: smaller-volume rock buckets for dense aggregate, larger general-purpose buckets for light topsoil and loam. Loaders like these are a common match in Australian iron ore and coal pits - see our Australia mining equipment page for regional support.

Wheel Loader Selection: Beyond Bucket Capacity

Bucket capacity is the number buyers ask about first, but the numbers that decide productivity on site are operating weight, breakout force and reach. A 3 t class loader with a well-matched bucket and Z-bar linkage will outperform a nominally larger machine that lacks breakout force or dumps too low to load a 50 t tipper cleanly.

Typical Duty Cycles and the Right Configuration

  • Quarry and crusher feed: heavy-duty buckets, reinforced booms and ROPS/FOPS cabs; look for breakout force above 90 kN in the 3–5 t class.
  • Concrete batching and cement plants: high-tip-height variants clear charging hoppers; reduced-cycle bucket designs cut spillage.
  • Waste transfer stations: compact footprint with full power-shift transmission for constant shuttling between pit and bunker.
  • Port and steel mills: high-ream configurations with quick-couplers to switch bucket, forks and clamps within minutes.

Total-Cost Decisions

  • Transmission: lock-up torque converters save 10–15% fuel on hauling legs compared with older clutch models.
  • Tyre management: ballasting and correct pressures extend tyre life more than any other single practice.
  • Service access: grouped grease points, swing-out cores and a hinged cab cut daily PM time.

Yutong wheel loaders use the Weichai engine line and a Z-bar linkage tuned for breakout force; every machine ships with a service plan that covers filters, hydraulic oil sampling and operator training so the first 2,000 hours run without surprises.
