The renewable energy construction challenge
Wind and solar projects are built in remote, exposed locations: hilltops, desert plains and coastal ridges. Cranes must lift heavy components to height on sloping ground, foundation piles must be drilled through variable rock, and site roads and pads must be graded and kept dust-free. Operating wind farms also need cranes for component maintenance. Our renewable energy solutions pair crawler cranes, rotary drilling rigs and wheel loaders so one supplier covers both construction and maintenance. See a real wind lift in the wind turbine crane case.
Solution combination
The crawler crane (55 to 100 tons) lifts tower sections, nacelles and blades, and supports component replacement during maintenance. The rotary drilling rig bores turbine foundation piles. The wheel loader grades access roads and pads and moves materials, and a sprinkler truck suppresses dust on unpaved site roads. This family is overviewed on the hoisting equipment page and the foundation page.
| Project | Crane | Drilling / earthmoving |
|---|---|---|
| Wind farm construction | YTQU75HDS / YTQU100HDS | YTR drill + wheel loader |
| Wind O&M | YTQU100HDS wind-duty | — |
| Solar farm construction | — | Wheel loader + sprinkler |
| Hybrid remote site | Crawler crane | Drill + loader + sprinkler |
Typical renewable scenarios
Wind farm erection. Crawler cranes lift tower sections and nacelles to hub height, rigging on sloping hilltop pads. The wind turbine crane case documents a real lift and crane configuration. Selecting the right crane is covered on the crawler crane buyer guide.
Wind turbine maintenance. Operating turbines need cranes for gearbox and blade replacement. The YTQU100HDS wind-duty configuration is purpose-built for this. Ask our team for the maintenance configuration.
Solar farm site preparation. Wheel loaders grade access roads and pads; sprinkler trucks suppress dust on unpaved roads. For tracker pile foundations, rotary drills produce the piles. The dust control case shows the approach.
Remote foundation piling. Rotary drills bore turbine or solar piles in remote terrain, transported between pads. See the pile case for drill productivity in production programs.
Remote-site support
Remote sites mean long freight lead times. We ship fleets with recommended fast-moving spare-parts kits so the site is not waiting on sea freight for a consumable. For critical failures, air freight shortens lead time. On-site commissioning and operator training are included for major fleets. Read about support on the after-sales page and operator training page.
Electrification and emissions
Renewable projects often set their own emissions goals. Our electric rotary drilling rigs run on grid or generator power with no local exhaust, and electric wheel loaders are available where quiet, zero-emission operation matters. For construction in protected landscapes, electric units reduce both noise and emissions during build. Compare options on the electric vs fuel drill page.
Project logistics for remote sites
Remote renewable sites demand careful logistics planning. Crawler cranes break down into transportable sections and are rigged on site; drills and loaders travel between pads. We coordinate sea freight to the nearest port, inland transport to site, and on-site rig-up with the contractor. For wind farms in hilly terrain, we review access road gradients and pad dimensions before shipment. Read about service and parts planning on the after-sales page and regional coverage on the dealer network page.

Frequently asked questions
Which equipment do you supply for wind farm construction?
We supply crawler cranes for lifting tower sections and nacelles, rotary drilling rigs for turbine foundation piles, and wheel loaders for site road and pad preparation. For wind maintenance, our crawler cranes support component replacement on operating turbines.
Can your cranes handle remote wind farm sites?
Yes. Our crawler cranes break down for transport and rig on site, and are rated for sloping terrain and sloped working positions. We specify crane configuration based on component weight and hub height. See the wind turbine case.
What do you supply for solar farm construction?
Wheel loaders and sprinkler trucks support site grading, access roads and dust control. Rotary drills where pile foundations are required for trackers. We match equipment to site scale and terrain.
Do you offer equipment for wind turbine maintenance?
Yes. The YTQU100HDS includes a wind-maintenance duty cycle configuration for component replacement on operating turbines. The wind turbine case documents a real lift. Ask our team for the maintenance configuration.
How do you support projects in remote locations?
We ship complete fleets with recommended spare-parts kits, provide on-site commissioning and operator training, and use air freight for critical parts. Regional service points in Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia shorten support loops. See the service page.
